Friends today we shall talk about the medicine ‘ARALIA RACEMOSA’
It is a herbaceous plant, about 1 to 2 m (3 ft 3 in to 6 ft 7 in) tall, which grows in shady areas. The A. racemosa has a herbaceous, widely branched, smooth stem, three or four feet in height, dark green or reddish, and arising from a thick aromatic root. The leaves are decompound; the leaf-stalks divide into three partitions, each of which bears three or five large, ovate, pointed, serrate, slightly downy leaflets. Umbels numerous, small, arranged in branching racemes from the axilla of the leaves or branches. It flowers in July, and grows in rich woodland. The root is large, spicy, aromatic.
Tincture
of the fresh root and the dilutions; triturations of the dried root.
Aralia
Racemosa MT diluted with water applied to ulcers, tetter, ringworm, erysipelas,
etc. gives relief.
Earache
and deafness.
Provokes
the urine, and reduces pains of the stone in the ureter and kidneys.
Useful
in Leucorrhoea, Prolapsus uteri.
Chlorosis,
in enfeebled states of the nervous system, and in general debility.
It
is used as a wash to change the offensive state of the secretions from the
vagina and uterus, as in leucorrhoea, and in other cases when the secretions
becomes acrid and offensive, as in some instances after confinement.
After
delivery, severe chill ; lochia suppressed, abdomen distended, and tympanitic,
with excruciating pains in the bowels and uterine region, high fever.
In
cases of Amenorrhoea this remedy is capable of restoring the secretion.
Fear
of lung disease; cannot be shaken off.
Smarting
soreness of posterior nares, caused by passage of acrid mucus, with peculiar
soreness of alae nasi as if fissured.
Asthmatic
conditions, with cough aggravated on lying down.
Drenching sweat during sleep. Extreme sensitiveness
to draughts. Diarrhea, prolapse of rectum. Aching in rectum extending upwards.
Dry cough coming on after first sleep, about middle of
night. Asthma
on lying down at
night with spasmodic cough; worse after first sleep, with tickling in throat.
Constriction of chest; feels as if a foreign body were in throat. Obstruction worse in
spring. Hay-fever; frequent sneezing. Rawness and burning behind sternum.
As the attack of asthma passed off phlegm came more freely, had a salty taste,
and felt warm in the mouth. A fit of coughing occurring before midnight, either
immediately on lying down or more commonly after a short sleep. Cough
occurring at 11 p.m., after a short sleep. Profuse perspiration whilst
asleep.
The least current of air causes sneezing, with copious watery,
excoriating nasal discharge, of salty acrid taste.
Menses suppressed; leucorrhoea foul-smelling,
acrid. Lochia suppressed, with tympanites.
Diarrhœa and prolapse of rectum; soft yellow
stools; after stool an aching pain in the rectum, extending upwards on the left
side.
Worse about 11 pm (cough).
