ACONITUM NAPELLUS: Abdomen hot to the touch, distended, sensitive ; paroxysm of anguish. Colic forces him double, yet relieved in no position ; inflammatory, after a cold. Abdominal symptoms better after warm soup. Burning in umbilical region. 

ARNICA MONTANA:        Hard swelling of the right side of abdomen, with severe pain when touched.  Sharp pains from side to side through abdomen. Colic with strangury. Pains around the navel when moving.Longing for vinegar or sour things ; for alcoholic drinks.Aversion : to meat ; broth ; milk ; smoking tobacco. 

Arsenicum album:            Pain in right side of abdomen, near lumbar region, spreading through abdomen to right groin and same side of scrotum. Violent pains in abdomen, with great anguish, has no rest anywhere, rolls about on floor and despairs of life. Bad effects from inordinate use of spirituous liquors. Frequent unquenchable thirst. 

BAPTISIA TINCTORIA:     Dull aching, distress in bowels. Right ileac region sensitive. Abdominal muscles sore on pressure. Glands of the left groin swollen ; painful on walking.Tongue feels swollen, thick, makes talking difficult. Body feel scattered about, tosses about to get the pieces together ; cannot sleep because cannot get pieces together. 

Belladonna:        Pain in ileo-cecal region. Cannot bear slightest touch ; worse by jar, motion of bed or turning of body. Patient lies on back. Fever and general symptoms, such as flushed face, etc., are present. 

Bryonia:               Pain dull and throbbing or sharp and sticking, confined to a limited spot. Patient is constipated. 

CANTHARIS VESICATORIA:           Great distention and tenderness of the belly. Disgust for everything-drink, food, tobacco. Burning thirst, with aversion to all fluids.Aggravation from drinking coffee.Urine scalds him, and is passed drop by drop. Constant desire to urinate. 

CARDUUS MARIANUS:   Bile deficient in the evacuations.  Constipation (stools hard, difficult, knotty) alternating with diarrhœa. Coloring matter of bile present in the urine ; the urine is scanty, brownish and turbid. Cloudy; golden-colored. 

COLCHICUM AUTUMNALE:          Distention of abdomen, with gas, inability to stretch out legs. Borborygmi. Pain over liver. Cćcum and ascending colon much distended. Fullness and continuous rumbling. 

Crotalus Horridus:            Violent pain in the course of the colon; in the region of the appendix. Intolerance of clothing around stomach. Cannot lie on right side, without vomiting dark-green matter. Typhlitis ; when of low type, red tipped tongue, prostration ; no stool, or discharges very offensive. 

DIOSCOREA VILLOSA:     Pains in the abdomen suddenly shift to different parts; appear in remote localities, as fingers and toes. Persons of feeble digestive powers; tea-drinkers, with much flatulence. Nails brittle. Colic pains: worse from bending forward and while lying; better on standing erect or bending backwards (rev. of Col.). 

ECHINACEA ANGUSTIFOLIA:        Acts on vermiform appendix thus has been used for appendicitis, but remember it promotes suppuration and a neglected appendicitis with pus formation would probably rupture sooner under its use. 

Ferrum phos., and Kalium mur. have been found of great service clinically in this affection. 

Ginseng:              Pain about umbilicus, > by bending double. Pain in l. iliac fossa. Exhausted, tired feeling. Muscular weakness. Felt as if I had been sick for a long time. General aching all over, with exhaustion. Pains and sickness of stomach > by lying down. 

Iris Tenax:           Mouth dry, without saliva. Cutting in abdomen, more severe on right side than on left. Painful spot over ileo-cæcal region. Fearful pain in ileo-cæcal region. Hot applications > bowels. So exhausted cannot leave bed in the morning though pains have moderated. Home-sick feeling. Cold pillow ameliorate pain in temples. Burning in mouth and throat is better by sucking in cold air. Hot applications ameliorate pain in bowels. Cup of tea ameliorates vomiting. Many symptoms appear or are worse on waking. 

Lachesis:              Pain and swelling in region of caecum. Pain extends from right lumbar region, through inguinal region and fore part of thigh. Patient weak. 

Lac Vaccinum Defloratum:           Abdomen is sensitive to touch. Pressure round waist causes fainting spells. Feels completely exhausted, whether she does anything or not; great fatigue when walking. Sensation: as if cold air was blowing on her, even while covered up; as if sheets were damp. Obesic and diabetic constipated. 

Mercurius :         Abdomen tense, hard, swollen and sensitive ; fulness and tenderness across the epigastrium and hypochondria.  Colic from cold, from the evening air, from worms. When lying on the right side, the intestines feel bruised. Enteritis, lancinating pains ; bloody, slimy stools ; sweat, without relief.  Hard painful, hot swelling in the ileo-cćcal region. Peritonitis, with purulent exudation, especially with typhlitis. On walking, bowels shake as if loose. 

MERCURIUS CORROSIVUS:          Incessant, green, bilious vomiting. Epigastrium very sensitive. Bruised sensation; cecal region and transverse colon painful. Bloated; very painful to least touch. Tenesmus of the rectum, which is incessant, and is not relieved by the stool. 

PLUMBUM METALLICUM :           Large, hard swelling in ileo-cścal region, painful to touch and motion.  Abdomen hard as a stone ; knots in recti muscles ; anxious, with cold sweat and deathly faintness. Excessive colic, radiating to all parts of body. Abdominal wall feels drawn by a string to spine. Pain causes desire to stretch. Obstructed flatus, with intense colic. Colic alternates with delirium and pain in atrophied limbs. 

Rhamnus Catharticus:    Violent rumbling and griping, esp. cutting pains in ileo-cæcal region and in transverse colon. Colic. Abdomen hard; tympanites. Unable to rise; seemed to desire to press his head against the wall. Rham. cath. Ø in doses of a few drops is a useful palliative in cases of constipation. 

Rhamnus Frangula :         Stools of a dark-green colour, copious, thin or pasty. With the stools there was much rumbling in the ileo-cæcal region and along, the transverse colon with weakness after stool. (Rh. ca. has rumbling, griping, and cutting pains in ileo-cæcal region.) There was more vomiting with Rh. fr. than with Rh. ca. 

Rhus Tox:     There is a hard, painful swelling of the right side of abdomen, pain worse when sitting or stretching right leg. Cannot lie on left side. 

Sabal Serrulata :                Appendicitis especially if the prostatic gland is involved. Despondent, irritable, sympathy causes anger; constipation, enlarged prostate. 

Scrophularia :     Pain in liver on pressure. Colic below navel. Pain in sigmoid flexure and rectum. Painful, bleeding, protruding piles. Great drowsiness; in morning and before and after meals with weariness.Pain in liver on pressure. Colic below navel. Pain in sigmoid flexure and rectum. Painful, bleeding, protruding piles. 

TUBERCULINUM :            Pains in region of appendix vermiformis. Early-morning, sudden diarrhœa (Sulph). When symptoms are constantly changing and well-selected remedies fail to improve, and cold is taken from the slightest exposure. Takes cold easily without knowing how or where; seems to take cold "every time he takes a breath of fresh air" (Hep.).
