The strongest characteristic, calling for the use of Colocynthis, is an agonizing pain in the abdomen, causing the patient to bend over double. उदर में इतनी पीड़ा कि रोगी झुककर दोहराहों जाये, यइ इसका विशिष्ट संकेत है 

Relief is obtained by motion, such as twisting, turning, and wriggling around, and the motion is kept up steadily while the pain lasts; the pain is made worse after eating or drinking the least amount. थोड़ा सा भी खाने पीने से तकलीफ बढ़ती है 

This pain may occur alone, or in the dysentery, cholera etc. 

The doubling over of the patient and pressing on the abdomen, is the chief characteristic. 

In morbus coxalgia, where there is a sensation as of being encircled with an iron band, screwed up tightly.

Eye symptoms of Colocynthis: Pains sharp, boring, better pressure. Sensation on stooping, as if eye would fall out. Gouty affections of eyes. Violent pain in eyeballs which precede the development of glaucoma. 

झुकने पर लगता है कि आँख बाहर  गिर जायेगी। आँखों का गठिया रोग। glaucoma के शुरुआत में आँखों में तेज़ दर्द - पहले आँखों में तेज दर्द की शिकायत रहती है अगर उपयुक्त इलाज न हुआ तो रोगी को कुछ समय बीतने पर glaucoma हो जाता है  

Dysenteric stool renewed each time by the least food or drink. Jelly-like stools. Musty odor. Distention. पेचिस, थोड़ा भी खाना खाने से या पीने से पख़ाने जाना पड़ता है

Urine symptoms of Colocynthis: Urine viscid; looks like, and has the consistency of thin glue; sediment in the urine; complaints before passing, also after.

Generalities of Colocynthis: Affections of the right upper extremity, also right lower extremity; right eye, right side of the chest; general symptoms on right side; inner abdomen in general. Sensations, as though stones were being ground together in the abdomen, working upon the soft parts; Sensation of muscles being shortened. Sensation Of tightness in outer parts.

Aggravations of Colocynthis: worse from mental troubles; worse from anger with indignation; worse from mortification caused by offence; worse from lying on the painless side; worse before urinating, and after.

Colocynthis feels better lying with the head bent forwards.
